Evaluation of my Blog

After doing an honest evaluation of my blog I found that I pretty much did do all the assignments and all of them were produced on time. I enjoyed doing this assignment because it got me to become much more informed about the Old Navy company and more interested in their forms of communication to their audience.

Old Navy Visual Success

The Natalia's Sweater was a very successful item from Old Navy. Their commercial was very persuasive to their audience. They were just trying to get everyone prepared for the fall weather.

Visual Mistake "MID-TOWN FLASH" with The SuperModelquins

YouTube - "MID-TOWN FLASH" with The SuperModelquins

A Visual Mistake from Old Navy

Old Navy Commercial, "'MID-TOWN FLASH' with The SuperModelquins,"

Old Navy just wanted to add a little fun to their commercial with the mannequins and their sale on $15 dresses

The commercial takes place in a boutique store, where several mannequins are seen decorated with an assortment of clothing. "The Super Modelquins," as they are called, are primarily composed of four white females, and two black ones--a fully grown, alongside a much younger one. Just as a conversation ensues between the mannequins, on fashion-related subjects, a customer appears to yank the clothes off the body of the older black female mannequin, Michelle--rendering her naked. "Sweet!" a white male customer exclaims, as the hands of Michelle's husband are drawn over the white man's eyes, to protect her nakedness. The details are so graphic, that even a nearby dog puffs out a "ruff-ruff," in excitement. "Hey, man, keep your... eyes off my wife," the husband jokingly warns the white-male onlooker. "I can't; your fingers don't close," he retorts.
The climatic conclusion comes from Michelle, who seems to rebuff her husband's sensitivity, with the following: "Oh what, like you've never seen plastic before." This insulting parody, as I see it, is inappropriate, at best, and racist, at worst. The decision to use "Michelle," in light of the First Lady's booming popularity, might have single-handedly set up a trap, out of which Old Navy is unable to disentangle itself.

Memo to Old Navy

To Whom It May Concern

My name is Sasha Nathaniel. As part of my Business Communication class we were required to write a memo to you thank you for something positive. So I just wanted to take the time to thank you very much for helping out the De la Garza family. The family who lost their home to a fire and lost everything you helped them out by giving them $800 dollars in gift cards. I am sure the family was very grateful for the help from such a prestigious organization such as yourself. They must have felt special knowing you took the time out to help them. It is great to know that Old Navy although very successful still gives back to its community.

Yours truly,
Sasha Nathaniel.

What type of visual presentation would best represent your company and why?

The visual presentation that would best represent my company Old Navy would probably be one of family nature. Because Old Navy is a family store they sell women, men, children, babies clothing and accessories. Plus they are reasonably good priced and good quality. So a visual presentation that caters to a family and suitable for all ages is one that Old Navy would have.

How has the visual evolution affected Old Navy

The visual evolution has affected Old Navy in various ways. The Gap Incorporation which includes Old Navy made a decision to move all merchandising. As evp of merchandising for Old Navy, Clark, 38, will continue reporting to president Jenny Ming and oversee merchandising for every aspect of Old Navy's business, including adult, kids, baby and accessories. She previously was svp for Old Navy Adult and Accessories.Clark has served in various senior merchant roles at both Gap and Old Navy since joining the company 11 years ago. As a key member of Old Navy's leadership team, she helped develop strategies for Old Navy's men's, women's maternity and Plus Size.

Old Navy Gives Back
Chapter 15- Completing Reports and Proposals

It was a great idea for Old Navy to get people more into the Halloween spirit. It was a success with over 4,000 parents and kids coming out. They were giving back to the community. Even though few troubles along the way they proved how much they cared about the community.

Chapter 3 Communicating in a World of Diversity

Does Old Navy Communicate to a Diverse World?

Although it has been reported that designers fail to use black models or non white models because people will focus their attention on the model more than the product they are trying to promote.
Most of Old Navy commercials featured a majority of white women and not women of other races which showed how Old Navy was not a diverse company. According to a blog post on racialicious the only black model from old navy is a girl named Nina Keita . In past commercials Old Navy would only use two black persons one male one female along with other white friends and they all would go to a mall or amusement park and in the end they all would be teamed up with the black woman and black man together as if they were forced to be because of their race.
Now while watching a commercial for old navy on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkajRip9zkQ&feature=related in that video they have the model Nina Keita with her love interest being a white male which I think now shows how Old Navy is trying to communicate to the diverse world of fashion.

Chapt 17 Enhacing Presentation with Slides and Other Visuals

Enhancing Presentation with Slides and Other Visuals

The first step to enhancing your presentation is to plan the presentation visuals. It could be electronic, overhead transparencies, chalkboards and whiteboards, flip charts or other visuals. The next step is creating effective slides. Although it can be a bit tough it requires rational and creative instincts. When writing readable content one must ensure that each slide is to one thought with no more than 40 words per slide. Bulleted phrases are better than long sentences. The use of active voice is preferable along with short informative titles and others. When modifying graphics for slides bear in mind avoid repetition, shorten numbers, limit data, highlight key points and adjust size and design. Transitions are very effective when giving electronic presentations. It makes it easier for the viewers to know when you are changing topics. Completing slidees and support materials. Creating Navigation and support slides will enhance the presentation some are title slides, agenda and program details, navigation slides.
